Film Review - Maid in Manhattan

Bit of a play on words, this one. Evil scientist Tibor Natalyov, played by veteran character actor-dolphin, flipper, creates a Jennifer Lopez monster out of body parts, Frankenstein-style and then animates it with the intention of training it to be his maid.

The Jennifer Lopez monster is played by a stereotypical clown – red nose, big feet etc, although in a post-modern touch, the arse stolen from a graveyard to complete the monster is taken from the body of Lopez herself in a cameo role as a corpse.

Almost inevitably Natalyov falls in love with the Lopez monster and tries to force himself upon it. There is a comedy horn sound from the monster’s clown nose as he pins the monster down before he is squirted in the eye by a flower in its lapel. He recoils and Lopez departs never to be seen by him again.

In true bones to monster to riches to bones tradition, the monster embarks on a singing career, makes millions before being pulled apart at the seams by a dalmation on heat.
