Film and DVD reviews, analysis and criticism

Film reviews. Movie reviews. Cinema. Motion pictures. Whatever you want to call it, it doesn't matter, because the reviews are constructed out of lies.

Film Review – Gridlock’d

Gridlock’d takes place in an indeterminate commuter-belt. Gary and Carl – played with aplomb by Des Lynam and former Prime Minister, John Major – are car sharing. They are on their way to work at an unnamed bank’s head office as usual, but today they are destined to be late.

A jack-knifed lorry on a main thoroughfare brings traffic to a halt. Many cars divert, but the sheer volume of cars on the roads means that everything is at a standstill. Gary and Carl try and withstand the situation as best they can. They listen to the radio. They discuss how much petrol is left. Eventually they crack and start moaning about how they’ll have to work late to make up the time.

As time passes, the two men bond over their shared vitriol. Forced together by a company policy of doing the bare minimum to protect the environment, the two men become first friends and then lovers.

Eventually they abandon the car, pay for flights to San Francisco and live out their days in a nocturnal world of discos and catty bitching about celebrities’ clothes.
