Film Review – Another 48 Hours

Just what is the point of Another 48 Hours? 48 Hours was a decent film albeit marred by the inappropriate acting of its star, Bob Holness from Blockbusters. The story said all that needed to be said, so why produce a sequel? Not only that, they’ve not even taken the opportunity to improve on what was glaringly at fault in the first film – Bob’s acting.

Once again, Bob reprises his role as a put-upon publican. Yet again Bob is forced to perform a 48 hour shift after being let down by his employees. Obviously many of the supporting cast recognised the needlessness of this production, because they’re conspicuous by their absence. The many character actors who played regulars in the pub are all gone, replaced by photocopies of themselves stapled together and hung from the pub’s beams. They’re not even in colour. It’s laughable.

So Bob Holness, who struggles to act when speaking to real people, is forced to converse with fluttering, monochrome sheets of paper masquerading as drunk pub regulars. Obviously these characters don’t even have voices, so Bob is forced to do a ventriloquist act and talk to himself. Bob’s no actor. He’s even less of a ventriloquist. Avoid this film at all costs.
